The MOOC ‘Agroecology’ is back for the 6th consecutive year in English and French versions. The simultaneous running of these two sessions allows the different learning communities to interact and reinforce the international dimension of this free distance learning course. The MOOC will start on February 5th, 2021 and will run for six weeks.
The MOOC ‘Agroecology’ aims to introduce learners to agro-ecology by examining the different approaches and the ways in which they are transformed into agricultural practices and agro-ecological transition practices.
This course has been developed on both theoretical knowledge, presented by L'institut Agro | Montpellier SupAgro academic team, and a collaborative learning approach where participants are invited to contribute their own knowledge, know-how and observations, especially through the mini-report activity embedded throughout the syllabus. .
Indeed, the red line that will guide each student throughout the course will be provided by one practical example of agroecological principles that the student will select on Week 1. Each week, the student will spend about 1 hour developing a mini-report on that example, through a series of guided steps. Week 5 will be wholly devoted to the mini-reports—including sharing and discussing. .
Finally, every week, auto-corrected exercises and peer-reviewed assignments will give participants opportunities to test their progress and assimilate further the content that this course provides.
Since 2015, the MOOC Agroecology sessions have attracted more than 120,000 learners from about 100 countries (professionals, students, enthusiasts and the curious...).
Registration is already open on the FUN (France Université Numérique) platform.
The MOOC ‘Agroecology’ was created by Montpellier SupAgro and the Agreenium consortium in 2015 as part of the PARMI (Promoting AgRoecology deMands Innovation in education) project with the support of Agropolis Fondation.
Available in French and English, it was enriched in 2019 with a Spanish version resulting from a cooperation agreement between Montpellier SupAgro and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology in Buenos Aires, Argentina (INTA), an Argentinean agricultural research organization. This latest version was a great success with more than 60,000 registrations in 2019!
