PhD dissertation

The programme provides an initial professional experience that allows PhD students to acquire not only scientific skills in multidisciplinary fields, but also to develop transversal skills and knowledge of economics.

Candidates must have obtained within the past 4 years a Master of Science degree or the equivalent in the discipline chosen for the PhD.

Exceptions may be granted by Montpellier SupAgro, upon request from the PhD school, for candidates who do not hold the equivalent of a master's degree if they can demonstrate that their prior education or experience is the equivalent of the required level.

To apply, applicants must provide:

1. recommendations from a supervisor and a host laboratory belonging to one of the PhD schools in which Montpellier SupAgro is involved
2. a defined dissertation topic
3. proof of sufficient funding for the entire duration of the dissertation

PhD studies constitute the final stage of training through research. As a full-fledged training in innovation and creativity, a PhD represents a stepping stone to many professions requiring high-level technical skills and a strong ability to handle complex problems, and serves as a passport for international careers.
