With the support of a disability advisor, students are offered assistance to identify and implement suitable solutions to administrative, technical and educational challenges.

During training programmes and exams

Students with disabilities follow the same curriculum and take the same exams as other students. However, on the orders of a doctor registered with the regional disability service (MDPH), specific arrangements can be made based on the nature of the disability: for example, photocopies of lesson notes, loan of computer equipment, sign language interpretation or cued speech, additional time to complete exams. Montpellier SupAgro students are directed to the university preventive health service doctor at the beginning of the school year.

Accessibility on campus

On Gaillarde campus (Montpellier), nearly all of the buildings are easily accessible to people with reduced mobility. The buildings in the centre of the school are equipped with elevators to reach administrative offices, classrooms, auditoriums, tutorial rooms, laboratories, the library, computer rooms, student clubs, the self-service cafeteria and the snack bar. Accessible toilets are located on nearly every floor.

Paths equipped with guide bands and tactile pavestones have been installed on Gaillarde campus. Facilitating access for individuals with sensory disabilities is next on our list of priorities.

On Lavalette campus (Montpellier), work has been undertaken over the past few years to improve accessibility of the buildings, which are equipped for wheelchairs.

The campus of the Institute of Florac was completely renovated in 2013 and the buildings are easily accessible. The Institute should shortly be able to provide joellettes (all-terrain one-wheeled wheelchairs) to the public in order to allow full access to the training provided (including field training activities).

  • Accommodation and dining: on Gaillarde campus, the student resident hall has ground floor studios intended for individuals who use wheelchairs. They can be further adapted to the specific needs of the student residents. “La Marmite” restaurant is equipped with an elevator. In Florac, customized studious are available.
  • Health: students receiving a disabled adult allowance (AAH) are not required to belong to the student social security scheme.
  • Transportation: in Montpellier, TaM has progressively equipped itself with accessible buses, although some stops still have to be adapted; the trams have always been accessible. GIHP, an association, provides specialized transport service. Its vehicles can be reserved for transport anywhere in the Montpellier metropolitan area to supplement the public transport system.
  • Sports and culture: the Gaillarde campus is equipped with a stadium and a gymnasium, providing opportunities for diverse sports activities. There are several disability athletic clubs in Montpellier offering the opportunity to practice a range of sports. Montpellier offers a multitude of cultural activities and events; most cultural institutions in the city are accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Awareness-raising

A student club, Agr’Handi, brings together a dozen students every year. The club carries out awareness-raising campaigns on the Gaillarde campus and organizes activities with disabled youth.
