Lavalette Campus, Montpellier

A campus set in the middle of agricultural research

Update : 09/05/2024

Lavalette campus, covering 145 hectares on the northern outskirts of Montpellier, was progressively constituted on parcels of an old agricultural estate bequeathed to the city and then leased to Montpellier SupAgro.

The campus has welcomed many of the research and educational institutions specializing in agricultural science that gradually have established themselves in Montpellier: CIRAD, IRD, INRAE, CIHEAM-IAMM, AgroParisTech, Maison de la Télédétection, Maison de la Technologie... and the headquarters of Agropolis International. In 2012, the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) decided to establish its headquarters in the capital of the Occitanie region, thereby reinforcing the international status of the Montpellier agricultural science hub.

Institute for Higher Education in Tropical and Sub-Tropical Agri-Food Sciences (IRC) at Montpellier SupAgro

CNEARC and ENSIA-SIARC, the founding establishments of Montpellier SupAgro, set themselves up on Lavalette campus. The Institute for Higher Education in Tropical and Sub-Tropical Agri-Food Sciences was born of the merger of these two institutions in 2007.
