As the world grapples with the complexities of sustainable agriculture, understanding the intricate dance between ecology and genetics becomes essential. The upcoming Summer School at l’Institut Agro Montpellier offers a unique opportunity for students to delve into the realm of Darwinian Agriculture. From 15th to 21st July 2024, this intensive program will immerse participants in the latest theories, techniques, and practical applications of ecological and evolutionary plant breeding, building the way for a greener tomorrow.

In 2023, l’Institut Agro joined the prestigious ELLS network, a platform that brings together the finest European universities in life sciences. More than just a network, ELLS offers unparalleled international and intercultural opportunities, providing access to a wide range of activities such as challenges, summer schools, and exchange programs.

Through ELLS, l’Institut Agro is committed to enriching the academic experience of its students and faculty, fostering collaboration, and promoting excellence in research and education.

Building on this commitment to excellence, l’Institut Agro Montpellier is proud to announce its upcoming Summer School on "Ecological and Evolutionary Plant Breeding for Sustainability - Concepts of Darwinian Agriculture." Scheduled from July 15th to 21st, 2024, this intensive program offers a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the latest theories, techniques, and practical applications of ecological and evolutionary plant breeding.

Exploring the Nexus of Ecology and Genetics

Taking place in Montpellier–France, the Summer School will serve as a rendezvous point for budding scientists and scholars eager to explore the intersection of ecology and genetics in agriculture. From understanding the genetic underpinnings of plant interactions to deciphering the strategies for sustainable crop production, participants will embark on a journey that transcends conventional boundaries.

Unveiling Cutting-Edge Concepts

Led by renowned experts in the field, the program will feature a blend of lectures, practical labs, and interactive sessions. Participants will unravel the mysteries of plant ideotypes, social traits, and the dynamics of plant interactions. From shadowing avoidance to the delicate balance between competition and cooperation in plant communities, every aspect will be meticulously dissected to provide a holistic understanding.

Hands-On Learning for Sustainable Solutions

A hallmark of the Summer School is its emphasis on experiential learning. Participants will design breeding schemes tailored for sustainable agriculture, incorporating social traits and ecological dynamics. Practical exercises, including hands-on exploration of plant interactions, will empower students to translate theory into practice.

Participate

For those eager to be at the forefront of agricultural innovation, the Summer School at l’Institut Agro Montpellier beckons. With no tuition fees and the possibility of Erasmus scholarships, the program opens its doors wide to aspiring change-makers.
