The department's teaching team provides students with theoretical and methodological skills for the following fields of application: Agricultural and agrifood economics, Rural and territorial development, Food consumption and marketing, Supply chains and agrifood systems, Business management and entrepreneurship, Environmental and natural resource management.
Training program
Teachers and researchers from the Economics, Management and Social Sciences department participate in the Agricultural and Sustainable agricultural and food systems for the south engineering programs from the first to the third year. In the 3rd year (M2), they are particularly active in the following options:
The department also coordinates a research master's degree in Economics of agricultural development, environment and food, a master’s degree in Agrifood marketing and sales via work-study.
It also is closely involved in the Wine Marketing master's program – co-accredited by the University of Montpellier - and the Advanced Master® Innovations and policies for sustainable food systems program.
Research
The research activities of the department are carried out in four joint research units (UMR): Innovation, CEE-M, MOISA and GRED.
Innovations and partnerships
The department works in close collaboration with regional professional sectors linked to rural development and the agrifood sector, as well as with research institutes located on Agropolis International campus (mainly INRA and CIRAD) and the University of Montpellier. It develops partnerships with other universities and higher education institutions in France and abroad.
